Traveling to NYC with NHYC

When I was a sophomore in high school I traveled with the New Hampshire Youth Chorus to New York City on a spring break vacation in April. We sang in Saint Patrick's Cathedral and saw the musical Hairspray. It was an amazing trip traveling through the city and seeing so many different people. Singing in Saint Patrick's Cathedral was so great too! I lit a candle for my family and friends. It was an absolute honor to sing in such a famous and historic Cathedral of America.

I have been singing for as long as I can remember...

I have been singing for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl I used to hum Barney songs to fall asleep at night and I used to act like I was Baby Spice from the Spice Girls and sing in front of the mirror with my hair brush microphone. For me singing is my release. It relieves my stress and makes me happy!

Traveling to France with NHYC

Singing in Notre Dame Cathedral was absolutely amazing. To sing in a place such great acoustics and so much history was an honor. It was something that I will never forget for the rest of my life.

Singing in the Cathedral of Rouen was spectacular. It was a rainy stormy evening. We could hear every drop of rain hit the roof and the roar of thunder above us. The candles in the church flickered in the storm and made the cathedral feel warm. As we began to sing the Lord’s Prayer the thunder boomed and we could see a small old frail man in the crowd crying. It was a moment I will never forget.

Choir

When I was a freshman in high school I joined a choir called the New Hampshire Youth Chorus. The choir consisted of singers from all over New Hampshire who come together on Sundays to sing beautiful songs for a couple of hours. In the Spring of my freshmen year the choir and I were fortunate enough to receive the opportunity to travel to France and sing in magnificent and famous cathedrals like Notre Dame Cathedral and the Cathedral of Rouen.
